You Are There Hosted by Charlie Grinker: The Fun and Feel of the 50’s

Just 5 years after the end of WWII the Korean War explodes. Here’s why. War also makes its national debut on television. Our favorite series included Bonanza, Gun Smoke, Father Knows Best and The Jack Benny Show where we have the pleasure of watching young Marilyn Monroe make her TV debut.

The hit show of the 50’s was Your Show of Shows starring Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca, with superb skits written by Neil Simon, Mel Brooks, and Carl Reiner. Charlie Grinker worked on the show and 40 years later he invited the stars to share their memories on his award-winning A&E series, The Class of the 20th Century. It’s lots of fun. And don’t miss our musical favorites led by Elvis Presley and remembered by Diane Sawyer, Chuck Berry, Oprah Winfrey, Dick Clark, and Maya Angelou.
